n "> (Reuters)-California air quality regulators are very strong on Wednesday proposed sweeping new rules to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from vehicles, including placing the 1.4 million electric, plug-in and hydrogen cars on the streets of the country in the year 2025.

In addition to limiting the warming climate gases, the program will also save drivers $ 22 billion in fuel costs, the State Water Resources Board said.

The Proposal is part of the Golden State's aggressive plans to reduce heating emissions 80 percent by 2050 climate and comes three weeks after the Obama administration proposes doubling the fuel efficiency of cars to 54.5 miles per gallon in 2025.

California is the largest U.S. car market and has the distinction of being able to manage policies independent of the federal rules, made over the years become a laboratory for change.
